Position: Assessor/Tutor in Residential Childcare

Location: South Yorkshire/Humber (Travel required within Yorkshire and Humber)

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Residential Childcare qualifications and facilitate distance learning via the online portal.
  • Conduct Functional Skills sessions in Maths and English.
  • Teach and assess learners from entry level to Level 5, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, retention, and success.
  • Promote the development of maths, English, and digital skills.
  • Monitor and track learner progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Prepare and assess assignments in line with organisational and awarding body requirements.
  • Ensure on and off the job training is effectively monitored and recorded.
  • Regularly review learner progress with learners and employers.
  • Fulfil safeguarding responsibilities and promote the Prevent Duty and British values.
  • Participate in standardisation meetings and act on IQA feedback.
  • Contribute to external quality assurance preparations and inspections.
  • Undertake administrative duties and contribute to learner recruitment and guidance.
  • Provide developmental feedback to learners to support their career and learning aspirations.
  • Promote Reed Further Education’s course curriculum, enhancing learner skills for future success.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and conduct pre-vetting reports on employer premises.
  • Meet KPI measures and attend performance review meetings.

Requirements:

  • Passion for developing learners’ Residential Childcare skills.
  • Recognised Teaching Qualification (e.g., PTLLS, Certificate in Education).
  • Recognised Assessor Qualification (e.g., D32/33, A1, CAVA).
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English, and ICT at Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Experience in delivering Residential Childcare courses and supporting learners aged 16+.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and IT skills.
  • Vocational experience and up-to-date knowledge within the sector.
  • Full UK Driving License and use of own vehicle.
  • Desirable: IQA Qualification (e.g., D34, V1) or willingness to work towards it.
