Role Purpose: To oversee two children's homes located next to each other: a 2-bed home for Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and a solo home potentially for a child who may have Learning Disabilities (LD). We are willing to consider candidates with both CQC or Ofsted experience. The company has been incorporated for almost 4 years. Support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality service, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, and policies. Promote a positive, child-centred culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:

    • Assist in maintaining high standards of care and service delivery.
    • Lead, guide, and support Residential Support Workers (RSWs).
    • Organize staff rotas and ensure adequate coverage.
    • Deputize in the absence of the Registered Manager.
    • Ensure staff understand and implement daily routines and roles.
  • Care Standards and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
    • Oversee Local Authority care/placement plans and reviews.
    • Chair and participate in meetings and reviews.
    • Promote a culture of openness and active listening.
    • Ensure non-discriminatory and inclusive practices.
  • Staff Development and Support:

    • Promote professional development and provide training.
    • Ensure effective key working practices.
    • Monitor staff performance, sickness, and holidays.
    • Organize and document team meetings.
  • Operational and Administrative Duties:

    • Assist with financial administration.
    • Maintain administrative records.
    • Produce and edit reports.
    • Contribute to the on-call system.
    • Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Safeguarding and Child Welfare:

    • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
    • Encourage positive relationships and a nurturing environment.
    • Lead by example in creating a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Participate in staff recruitment.
    • Handle challenging situations calmly and assertively.
    • Stay informed on legislation and best practices.
    • Perform other duties as required by the Registered Manager.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge: Understanding of Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, safeguarding, and best practices.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, time management, and leadership abilities.
