My client is a leading, multi-billion pound turnover Civil Engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced General Foreman to join the team on a prestigious mine water treatment scheme. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile project that integrates Civil Engineering (Civils), Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works, and the latest environmental technologies.

Role Overview:As a General Foreman, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day site activities, ensuring that the project is delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for managing site operations in line with NEC4 contracts, working closely with the project management team, subcontractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the on-site team, including direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring the effective delivery of Civils and M&E works.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient execution of all works in line with project plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Manage site logistics, materials, and resources to ensure the smooth running of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC4 contract terms, monitoring progress, and reporting to the Project Manager on cost, time, and quality.
  • Liaise with engineers, surveyors, and the wider project team to ensure accurate and timely completion of work packages.
  • Champion Health, Safety, and Environmental best practices, ensuring all site activities meet regulatory and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily progress, labour, and materials used, providing regular reports to senior management.
  • Resolve any issues or challenges that may arise on site, providing leadership and direction to the team.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a General Foreman on large-scale Civil Engineering projects, ideally within water treatment or similar infrastructure schemes.
  • Strong understanding of both Civils and M&E disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of NEC4 contracts and how they apply to project delivery.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
  • EUSR
  • Valid CSCS card, SMSTS or SSSTS qualification, and relevant health & safety certifications.
  • Full UK driving licence.
