Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to manage, train and develop a team of stair lift engineers and apprentices. Supporting both the engineering team and the office team with technical knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • To follow health, safety and environmental guidelines and procedures in respect of personal and department activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance and support in technical and professional development.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and set clear performance expectations.
  • Provide support and assistance to all colleagues via phone and on-site.
  • Responsible for expanding the technical knowledge and technical performance of all engineering personnel including team leaders and senior engineers.
  • Manage the training and development of apprentices to achieve the required standards of engineering knowledge of company products.
  • Create a training plan for all engineers to be fully proficient in all models of lifts currently serviced by utilising regular competitor training.
  • Ensure engineers quality of work is carried out to a high standard by carrying out site audits, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Promote respect and cohesion with colleagues at Warrington & Rotherham.
  • Monitor 'first time right’ KPIs and address any issues with engineers not achieving their objectives.
  • Show awareness of departmental KPIs and how you contribute to these.
  • Manage personal objectives to achieve in line with department and business objectives.
  • Carry out regular toolbox talks.
  • Dealing with customer complaints regarding the engineering team.
  • Warehouse management & stock management inclusive of Warrington Facility & Rotherham facility
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the Service and Installations Manager
  • Key interface with all site personnel, including line managers, production teams, suppliers and customers.
  • Key role to ensure the engineering team comply with building regulations, policies and controls.
  • Key role to ensure excellence in customer service

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrable experience of providing product training to all levels of personnel
  • Demonstrable experience of leadership skills and experience and employee management
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of stairlifts and platform and lifts
  • Qualification at GCSE or Equivalent
  • Qualification at A Level or Equivalent
  • EAL Level 4 Certificate in Performing Testing Operations in the Lift and Escalator Industry (QCF)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate results delivery
  • The ability to use judgement, problem solving skills and initiative to provide information and support and to recognise where issues may need to be referred onwards to be addressed by the Operations Manager
  • The ability to work flexibly and respond to change daily
  • Positive leadership and management skills
  • High standard of IT literacy including Accounting software, MS
  • Office, advanced Excel skills
