Elevation Recruitments Skilled Shop Floor Team are currently working partnership with an Engineering business that specialise in the manufacture of ground drilling equipment.

Due to expansion, they are looking to add a Hardfacing Operative to their team in Sheffield.

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join our team of Hardfacing Specialists. You will play a key role in applying protective hardfacing coatings to oil & gas drilling equipment, ensuring top-notch quality. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a passion for high standards of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply hardfacing coatings to oil and gas drilling equipment with precision and care
  • Maintain the high-quality standards our products are known for
  • Operate hand tools, grinding, and cutting equipment effectively (experience is an advantage)
  • Work efficiently in a hot environment
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals

Skills and Experience:

  • A strong can-do attitude and commitment to excellence
  • Experience with Oxy-Acetylene gas brazing (Nickel bronze and Silver soldering skills) is a plus
  • Familiarity with hand grinding/cutting tools is advantageous
  • Experience with cylindrical machine grinding is a plus but not required
  • Must be able to work in high-temperature conditions and take pride in workmanship
  • Team-oriented mindset and strong attention to detail

Working Hours and Overtime:

  • Regular hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 2:30 pm (38 hours per week)
  • Overtime: Optional overtime available starting from 6:00 am, paid at time and a half
  • Saturday shift: 6:00 am to 11:00 am, where required
  • Potential shift work: Dependent on workload, shifts may include mornings (6:00 am to 2:00 pm) and afternoons (2:00 pm to 10:00 pm) from Monday to Thursday, and Fridays (6:00 am to 12:00 pm) and (12:00 pm to 6:00 pm). Shift rate is time +25%.
