Electrical Documentation Engineer
£40 to £50 per hour – Hybrid/Sheffield – Initial 3-month contract (Outside IR35)
Ford & Stanley Interim is currently partnered with a specialist design, build, and manufacturing consultancy responsible for many world-first projects.
Specific areas of expertise include the design, build, and manufacture of bespoke solutions within Defence & Aerospace.
Our client has several highly confidential and security-sensitive projects and requires an experienced Electrical Documentation Engineer to complete project-critical EC&I documentation in line with the design change requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and maintain electrical technical documentation for a defence project, ensuring compliance with industry and government standards.
- Support design change requirements for cable routing, motor installation, and electrical installations, ensuring all modifications are accurately documented.
- Interpret and work with electrical schematics to produce high-quality documentation that supports engineering teams and regulatory approval processes.
- Prepare and revise EC&I (Electrical, Control & Instrumentation) documentation, including technical reports, design specifications, and test procedures.
- Ensure all documentation meets government approval requirements, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and project teams to capture design changes and translate them into structured documentation.
- Maintain compliance with defence industry regulations and industrial electrical standards, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and audit ready.
- Provide technical support in document reviews, audits, and quality assurance processes related to electrical installations.
Candidate Essentials:
- Industrial Background – Must have experience in an industrial setting (e.g., defence, oil, and gas, petrochemical, heavy engineering). Commercial experience is not suitable.
- EC&I Documentation Experience – Proven experience in writing Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) documentation.
- Electrical Schematics – Ability to read, interpret, and work with electrical schematics to support technical documentation.
- Design Change Documentation – Experience in documenting complex design changes related to electrical systems, ideally in a highly regulated environment.
- Technical Writing Skills – Ability to produce clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation.
