This is an excellent opportunity to take the lead in a critical role while developing your skills within a dynamic and supportive environment.Role OverviewAs the Electrical Team Leader for the Crane Department, you will manage a multi-disciplined team responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM), repairs, and enhancements of over 90 electric overhead travelling cranes (E.O.T.C’s) and other lifting equipment across the Stocksbridge site. These cranes range from 250kg to 80 tonnes in safe working load (SWL).You will play a crucial role in driving performance improvements, ensuring reliable operations, and providing fast, effective responses to breakdowns. In addition, you’ll work closely with the Shift Management team to ensure all Safety, Quality, and Production targets are met.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of skilled craftsmen and apprentices, ensuring smooth daily and weekly operations.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on cranes and other heavy machinery, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Be proactive in identifying faults and developing innovative solutions to improve crane reliability.
  • Collaborate with section engineers to create forward plans and maintenance strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise to your team and offer guidance during complex tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring quality feedback.
  • Oversee the creation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for routine and non-routine tasks.
  • Coordinate activities and manage the performance of team members and contractors.
  • Lead technical and safety training for your team to ensure compliance with all business health and safety standards.
  • Deputise for the Section Engineer as required and assist with plant improvement projects.
About YouWe are looking for an apprentice-trained technician with substantial experience in electrical inspection, repair, and fault finding within a heavy industrial environment, particularly in crane maintenance.To succeed in this role, you will:
  • Have completed a recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship (HNC preferred, but ONC or equivalent acceptable).
  • Possess sound engineering knowledge of AC & DC circuits, PLCs, and heavy machinery.
  • Be a self-motivated leader with strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate experience with permit systems and an understanding of safety procedures, including working at height and hot work permits.
  • Be customer-focused, able to prioritise tasks and manage resources effectively.
