Our client based just outside of Rotherham is a forward-thinking manufacturing business committed to sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint. As part of our mission to achieve net zero carbon emissions, we are seeking an experienced and innovative Environmental Manager to lead the charge in reducing our carbon footprint and implementing sustainable practices across the organization. The successful environmental manager will a critical role in driving our sustainability strategy and ensuring environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive environmental strategy aligned with the company’s net zero goals.
  • Conduct carbon footprint assessments and create actionable plans to reduce emissions across all areas of the business.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable resource management.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including suppliers and partners, to improve sustainability throughout the supply chain.
  • Lead initiatives to increase employee awareness and engagement in environmental best practices.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics, including progress toward net zero targets.
  • Research and implement emerging technologies and practices that support sustainable manufacturing.
  • Provide guidance and training to teams on environmental policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years in a similar role, with a focus on sustainability, carbon management, or environmental compliance, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., IEMA, ISO 14001) are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of carbon footprint reduction strategies, energy management systems, and waste minimization.
  • Exceptional project management, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in environmental monitoring and reporting tools.
  • A strategic thinker with a proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to inspire others to adopt sustainable practices.
