- Working on key projects such as corporate and property deals, providing technical support for corporation tax
- Calculating tax provisions for both group and individual company accounts, alongside communicating with external auditors and the Tax Manager
- Maintaining tax reporting software, ensuring that the relevant information is collected and presented
- Updating corporation tax compliance and reporting systems
- Implementing efficiencies with the aim of increasing automation and moving towards MTDCT
- Preparing tax computations and returns for the UK entities
- Providing input into forecasts and strategic plans relating to corporation tax, which may include deferred tax calculations, ensuring presentations for senior stakeholders are created
- Liaising with HMRC regarding meetings and any correspondence, handling queries, disputes and negotiations
- Taking accountability for risk management and governance in relation to corporation tax
- Providing training and guidance for junior and non-tax staff members
- Ensuring tax legislation is kept updated, particularly in relation to corporation tax
- Handling key tax relief claims, including R&D allowances, ECAs rollover relief and capital allowances on property spend
- Must be a qualified accountant or tax professional (ACA or CTA)
- Extensive experience of at least 10 years handling large group tax compliance
- Experience handling deferred tax accounting and modelling
- Exposure to working with large Excel tax models
- Sound competency utilising tax software, preferably Alphatax, with additional knowledge of other relevant systems such as SAP
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience liaising with key stakeholders, both internally and externally
