E & M Talent Partners are currently supporting a large Academy Trust in South Yorkshire who are looking to appoint a senior member of the finance function to undertake the role of financial lead. Reporting directly into the Chief Financial Officer you will be at the centre of the financial strategy with oversight of all the schools within your dedicated region.

This is an autonomous role with full financial control of your regional schools but you will collaborate with the wider team to drive improvement.

Experience within a multi-academy setting would be advantageous but not essential. You will be commercially astute, with a wealth of all round Management Accounting experience inc Budgeting, Forecasts, Analysis, Month End/Year end, Financial Accounts and Audit.

Providing Headteachers with insightful financial analysis, guiding them in budget setting and producing accurate reports will be an imperative part of the role. You will need to work with the local authority in understanding High Needs funding methods and the impact of the Department for Education stat guidance.

A full JD is available but duties will include:

- Prepared budgets with assumptions and risks

- Monitor budgets and updating forecasts

- Monthly reporting with commentaries

- Supporting day to day decision making from a financial point of view

- Regular analysis into spend, efficiencies and financial modelling to support business cases

- Annual accounts, returns, YE accruals/pre payment adjustments

- Business Partnering

- Internal and external audit

In order to be shortlisted for this role you must be qualified or be able to demonstrate that you are qualified by significant experience.

Strong Excel skills are absolutely essential. Strong communication skills are imperative as is the ability to appropriately convey financial information to non finance professionals across the school system.
