Area Sales Engineer
North of Derby/ Sheffield.
£40,000 - £50,000 DOE Negotiable + 1% commission, 70K OTE + Hybrid vehicle + Mobile, laptop or Ipad + Sick pay + Vitality healthcare + Pension.
My client is a leading supplier of CNC machine tools for the structural steel fabrication and processing industry. They have built a strong reputation through innovation and a focus on improving customer productivity. Due to an increase in their market share they are now recruiting for an area sales engineer to join their successful team. As an Area Sales Engineer, you will be the main point of contact for new and existing customers, helping to drive business growth. This role involves understanding customer needs, industry challenges, and providing the right solutions. You will also represent the company at industry events and exhibitions while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for new and existing customers, driving sales growth in CNC machinery.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular meetings and calls.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations to promote products and services.
- Work closely with existing clients to anticipate needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Represent the company at exhibitions and conferences, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Negotiate and close orders in line with monthly/annual sales targets.
- Respond to technical and commercial queries, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support business growth.
- Maintain accurate financial records and work within an established budget.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in selling high-value machine tool or cutting tool equipment in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of the steel machining sector.
- Ability to produce technical documents, including reports and quotations.
- Previous experience with capital equipment sales is desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Time served apprenticeships or degree level desirable, or a strong machine tool engineering background.
