Due to continued growth, we are now seeking to recruit 2 Armature Windersto supplement our team at the Sheffield Business.

As a multi-disciplined service provider, we support local industry and infrastructure from our facility in Sheffield with a range of unique rotating machine services; with specialist support available for the Oil and Gas, Marine Steel, Water and Renewables markets.

The activities undertaken by our Armature Winding & Electrical Fitting departments are both diverse and challenging as they cover all aspects of the repair & refurbishment of machines which are often highly complex.



Key Responsibilities & Accountability

In summary your key areas of responsibility will be:-

  • Inspect electro-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunction, test condition of windings, dismantle and strip damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipment, prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions
  • Illustrate and document all relevant data specific to unit's electro-magnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage or intended serviceability
  • Observe proper insulating techniques and requirements during rewinding
  • Operate specialised repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss tester, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, back ovens, grinders, cranes forklifts trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems and various hand-held power and non-power tools






Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Time served, semi-skilled or combination of education and experience is desired
  • Mechanical aptitude and prior experience working as a Winder is essential
  • Full driving licence
