School Governor at Becton School

Becton school is a Sheffield based hospital school that is unique as it is wonderful and as complex as it is caring. As a hospital school with a variety of provisions, our aim is to ensure that all children, whatever their medical need, receive an outstanding education. The school is part of Nexus Academy Trust. Becton School is seeking a new Parent Governor.

Governors are volunteers who have an interest in improving outcomes for children and young people.

As a governor you would work alongside other people in the Academy Council for the school. These are made up of Staff Governors, Parent Governors, Community Governors, Headteacher and officers from the Nexus Central Trust Team. As a Parent Governor you would need to have a child who is a pupil on roll at the school you are interested in.

As a team you would receive information and reports related to the school’s

  • Self-Evaluation
  • School Improvement Plan
  • Pupil and Community Voice

Meetings are scheduled in the daytime during the school day or evenings, depending on the individual school and the dates are set a year in advance. Meetings generally last for 2 hours and there is one meeting per term.
