Are you an experienced and dedicated Head of PE looking to make a lasting impact within the education and training sector? Academics, a leading recruitment agency in education and training, is working with an 11-18 secondary comprehensive school in Sheffield to find a passionate Head of PE for a permanent role starting in January, or sooner if you are available. As Head of PE, you will lead and develop the PE department, teach across all key stages, and promote an active, healthy lifestyle among students. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the PE department, ensuring high-quality teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5
  • Foster a love for sports and physical activity in students, promoting extracurricular involvement
  • Use student data to monitor performance and drive continuous improvements
  • Manage departmental resources and support the professional development of staff through CPD
  • Work collaboratively with the school leadership to align the department's goals with the overall strategy

Requirements:

  • A relevant degree and a Physical Education PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Commitment to ongoing CPD to support your role as a department leader
  • In-depth knowledge of current trends and issues in Physical Education within the education and training sector
  • Experience managing or leading a PE department in a secondary school setting
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • An enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel to schools in Sheffield
