A leading organisation in the civil engineering, construction, and rail sectors is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join their team in Sheffield with site visits UK wide. With the current H&S Officer retiring, this is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and knowledgeable professional to step into a key role, driving health, safety, and compliance across projects and the right individual will be earning up to £40,000 + company Car.

Health and Safety Officer Job Overview
  • Ensure compliance with H&S legislation, regulations, and company policies across all projects.
  • Site Inspections & Audits: Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments, providing detailed reports on findings and improvements.
  • Work closely with managers to investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert H&S advice to employees, managers, and directors, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Training & Awareness: Support site managers with inductions, toolbox talks, and specialist training, ensuring staff are informed and engaged.
  • Track and report on H&S performance, accident frequency rates, and compliance statistics, driving data-led improvements.
  • Ensure subcontractors, plant, and equipment meet all H&S standards and client requirements.
Health and Safety Officer Job Requirements
  • NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar H&S role within civil engineering, construction, or rail sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessments, auditing, and H&S regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel nationwide for site visits and inspections.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
