Our client is a successful and well-established food manufacturer.  They are looking for an experienced HSE Manager / Health Safety & Environmental Manager to join them on a permanent basis.

•    Salary - £46,000
•    Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•    To provide directional support to the Business in the Planning, Measuring, Reviewing and auditing of Environment, Health & Safety activities to meet legal requirements
•    To set minimum standards of Environment, Health & Safety Practices where needed and advise management of best practices within the industry
•    To contribute to the continuous improvement in business performance 
•    Ensure spending within budget 
•    Achieve and maintain an appropriate recognised standard of competency and undertake continuing professional development
•    Line management of an EHS Advisor – support, advise & develop using MyPlan
•    Contribute to the development of the site health & safety plan and the monitoring of performance
•    Develop and help implement Group EHS Policy & standards
•    Ensure that the site Health & Safety Policy is kept up to date and reviewed as necessary
•    Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents; ensure that these have been properly investigated and underlying causes have been discovered; and the correct remedial actions are identified and implemented
•    Ensure systems are in place to capture and promote the reporting of safety concerns and implementation of corrective actions
•    Receive information from the Divisional EHS Team and brief the management team accordingly
•    Collate and analyse accident statistics and performance information
•    Provide advice and assistance to the management team to help them achieve their responsibilities, identify hazards and eliminate and control risks
•    Advise management on how to implement a suitable and effective site audit programme and undertake site audits of the safety management system to ensure it remains effective
•    Keep up to date with new EHS legislation, company and other environmental and safety information and brief the management team accordingly
•    Ensure lines of communication are established with local enforcement agencies and emergency services
•    Attend Health and Safety Committee Meetings and provide training for the committee where needed
•    Work with the HR Manager to identify the health and safety training needs and participate as appropriate in such training
•    Assist the HR Manager monitor the effectiveness of the safety management system
•    Co-ordinate all matters relating to fire precautions and other emergency matters
•    Co-ordinate the Group Health, Safety and Fire Audit and all other relevant site EHS audits including ISO45001, Oven Audit, Environmental Audit, Ethical Audit
•    Champion energy efficiency & environmental activities    

Required Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:  

•    Minimum NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent - CMIOSH preferred
•    Sound background in and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, within food manufacturing production environment. 
•    The ideal candidate will provide direction ensuring productive relationships and have the following traits: Action orientated / Excellent team engagement / Driven & decisive / Adaptable / Organised / Strong interpersonal skills / Effective interpretation and translation of information
