GSL Education are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher to join a vibrant and inclusive secondary setting in Sheffield. Starting from September 2025,

As an MFL Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students' global outlook and communication skills. You will deliver well-structured, engaging lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, helping them develop language fluency, cultural awareness, and confidence in their speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities. Your lessons will not only cover grammatical knowledge and vocabulary but also foster an appreciation of the countries and cultures associated with the target language.

Whether you are an experienced teacher or an ECT with strong subject knowledge and passion, this position will allow you to make a meaningful impact while growing within a supportive team.

Your Responsibilities as an MFL Teacher:

  • Deliver inspiring lessons in French, Spanish, or German to students in KS3 and KS4
  • Foster an engaging classroom environment that promotes language learning
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and support achievement
  • Plan and implement creative and differentiated teaching strategies
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations through targeted revision and support
  • Promote cultural appreciation through language-related events and activities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices and improve outcomes
  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and classroom standards
  • Encourage students to explore languages through discussion and independent study
  • Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment or extracurricular opportunities

Qualifications of an MFL Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A degree in French, Spanish, German, or a related field
  • Previous experience teaching MFL in UK secondary schools is preferred
  • Passion for languages and a clear, enthusiastic communication style
  • Good classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A commitment to raising standards and achieving excellent student outcomes
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
