Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA):

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, including anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties.
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored lessons and activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Help students develop their social, emotional, and academic skills through positive reinforcement and guidance.
  • Support students with their personal care needs as required, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with the teacher of the class and other staff to monitor and track student progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence in students.

Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA):

  • Previous experience in a similar role or working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and strategies for supporting students with SEMH.
  • Ability to employ a range of teaching strategies that engage and inspire students, making complex concepts accessible and interesting.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive relationships and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Passion for supporting students with SEMH and a commitment to their academic and personal development.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies, with a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
