Our schools in Sheffield are searching for empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our team immediately, offering a rewarding chance to support students facing unique challenges.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping secondary students overcome barriers to learning while supporting their emotional and social well-being. The Role:
As a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who experience a range of social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Personalised Support: Provide tailored assistance to help students engage with the curriculum and develop coping strategies for emotional challenges.
  2. Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour strategies to maintain a supportive learning environment.
  3. Emotional and Social Development: Foster a safe and caring atmosphere, offering guidance to help students build resilience, confidence, and self-esteem.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure each student’s holistic development.
  5. Team Teach: While prior training in Team Teach is preferred, it is not essential. We offer free Team Teach training to successful candidates.

Requirements:
• Experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, particularly in secondary education.
• Strong empathy, patience, and dedication to supporting students with SEMH.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team.
• Experience with behaviour management techniques is desirable, though Team Teach training will be provided if necessary.
