Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join a financial services client based in Sheffield. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevOps, automation, and CI/CD pipelines, with the ability to work independently and troubleshoot complex infrastructure and service deployment issues across cloud platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical automation initiatives in a highly regulated and collaborative environment, working alongside global teams.


Key Responsibilities
  • Automation and CI/CD Tools:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain automated workflows using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, and Git.
    • Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
  • DevOps Tooling and Cloud Platforms:
    • Leverage expertise in AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub, Jenkins, and Ansible to support infrastructure automation and deployment.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure and services deployment on GCP and Azure.
  • Scripting and Programming:
    • Create and maintain scripts using Shell, Groovy, and Python for automation tasks and process improvements.
  • Agile and Collaborative Working:
    • Work in an agile environment, using collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA to manage tasks and share knowledge.
    • Collaborate with virtual teams across multiple global locations to deliver seamless automation solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, track multiple issues, and prioritize tasks effectively to drive results.

Skills and Experience Required
  • Solid IT experience with a focus on software development processes and DevOps practices.
  • Expertise in automation and CI/CD tools, including:
    • Ansible, Jenkins, Git, Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, GitHub.
  • Strong scripting skills using Shell, Groovy, and Python.
  • Experience working in agile and DevOps environments with team collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA).
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot infrastructure and service deployment issues on GCP and Azure.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a global team setting.
  • Banking sector experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and drive results in a dynamic environment.

Contract Details
  • Daily Rate: Competitive (inside IR35, via umbrella company).
  • Duration: Initial 6-month contract, with potential for extension.
  • Location: Hybrid working model with 2-3 days per week on-site in Sheffield.
