We are seeking a Commercial Lawyer to join a Local Authority legal services team. This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working and is ideal for someone with expertise in commercial law, looking to impact public sector legal practices.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters including contracts, procurement, and public law.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and contracts to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
  • Represent the Local Authority in negotiations and meetings with third parties.
  • Advise on and manage legal risks associated with commercial transactions.
  • Support the continuous improvement of legal services offered by the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
  • Proven experience in commercial law, ideally within a public sector or local government context.
  • Strong understanding of public procurement law and practices.
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Ability to provide clear, pragmatic legal advice under pressure.
