The Project

As a Process Commissioning Engineer, you will bring water treatment projects from EICA commissioning to project handover.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;

  • Degree in a relevant Engineering field such as Environmental, Water/Waste Water, Chemical or Civil Engineering

  • 3 years + experience as a Process Commissioning Engineer or similar role in the Water Treatment Sector

The Role

  • Job Title: Process Commissioning Engineer
  • Location: Sheffield
  • Duration: 6 Months

Duties

  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are developed into the proposed designs
  • Support project delivery and process design teams in the development and preparation of process commissioning test documentation
  • Review of design stage process designs and control philosophies in order to validate designs, familiarise with the project and spot issues before they arise
  • Complete pre-commissioning checks to ensure system is installed to the required specifications and standards in advance of process commissioning
  • Set initial process setpoints into the PLC/HMI/SCADA systems to ensure start-up levels of treatment and operation can be achieved
  • Divert flows to new works process in consultation with the wider project delivery team and conduct wet testing of PLC/HMI/SCADA automated sequences. Ensure that PLC/HMI/SCADA logic conforms to control philosophy and de-bug as necessary
  • Provide initial increased care phase post turn of flows to any new systems, monitoring the system and any alarms closely and responding as necessary in a timely manner
  • Continue to perform on-site testing and monitoring of the process to ensure operation is in line with performance criteria, make process adjustments as necessary, recording each adjustment and reasoning for the process change
  • Complete all process commissioning documentation including works demonstration. Provide demonstration of same to client and receive sign-off
  • Ensure data is being captured on PLC/SCADA system as well as on-site laboratory and external laboratory testing. Compile this data both during and at the end of the process commissioning and validation phases and draft a Performance Report for submission to the client
  • Answer any resulting queries or non-compliances arising from performance testing expeditiously
  • Ensure a positive experience for the client and their representatives instilling an ethos of collaboration and cooperation
  • Take ownership of allocated projects, ensure process commissioning activities are completed in a timely manner and report on progress to the Project Manager
  • Build and promote industry-leading teams by providing training and mentoring to more junior staff and process operational staff
  • Provide troubleshooting and fault finding for existing processes at water and wastewater treatment facilities as may be required. Compiling information and preparing a Site Assessment Report
  • Seek to improve the process commissioning process by providing lessons learned feedback and innovative solutions for adoption on future projects
