Senior Operations Manager - North Salary - £76k plus annual performance related bonus, company car and pensionAre you an experienced Operations Leader with a passion for supply chain excellence? Our client is seeking a dynamic Senior Operations Manager to oversee facilities in the North, driving performance, maximising operational productivity, and implementing strategic initiatives to elevate their service. With an annual budget of £23.3 million and three sites under your remit, this role is critical in optimising site performance and ensuring scalable, quality processes.Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop the Site Management team, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic vision. Support Site Managers in executing initiatives that enhance team performance and operational efficiency.
  • Operational Analysis: Conduct deep dives into specific operational issues, leveraging data and feedback to identify performance gaps, prioritise improvements, and drive impactful changes across sites.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the focal point for UK operations when the Director is abroad or unavailable. Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and operational progress.
  • Process Optimisation: Ensure processes are scalable and maintain high quality standards. Collaborate on cost-saving initiatives, monitor equipment effectiveness, and champion lean methodologies to enhance productivity.
  • Decision-Making & Authority: Oversee hiring, succession planning, and purchasing decisions in line with strategic goals. Autonomously manage various site responsibilities and customer concerns in collaboration with other areas of the wider business.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Cost savings 
  • FTE turnover and site productivity (OEE)
  • Compliance with BRC and NSF audits
  • Safety metrics, including injury frequency and near-misses
  • Annual development and implementation of succession plans
What We’re Looking For:
  • Extensive Operations Experience: 15+ years in operations, including 8+ years in warehouse environments and 7-10 years in supply chain management.
  • Leadership Expertise: Strong background in both direct and matrix management, with experience in manufacturing, logistics, and distribution settings.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to use performance metrics and lean methodologies to solve complex technical problems.
  • Communication & Project Management: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and engage stakeholders across the business.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in operations, logistics, or a related field; an MBA or master’s degree is highly desirable.
