Shillito Executive Search are working exclusively with an industry leading Sheffield based machining business who are looking for experienced Machine Tool Service Engineers to join the business.

The role will involve working on a once-in-a-lifetime project which will involve the installation and service of some of the largest and most advanced five-axis machines EVER produced in the world.

The Machine Tool Service Engineer will be part of a team that will be involved with the next generation of UK defence programmes.

As part of the program, the company will be working in partnership with the customer and new machine tool provider OEM. You will be a key part of a highly skilled team and thrive in delivering high-quality results and always be on the lookout for improvements.

On-site, hands on work will be required, to work on installation, de-commissioning, problem solving, fault finding, service of on-site machine tools.

The Machine Tool Service Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Machine Tool Installations
  • Machine Tool fault finding - corrections
  • Part identification
  • Attending meetings and carrying out Health and Safety requirements for team, when instructed by Lead Engineer.
  • Work closely with the all the Engineering Team to ensure the Planning of maintenance work within the department.
  • Contribute and drive a continues improvement culture within the engineering department
  • Liaise with the Lead Engineer and strive towards optimising and increasing efficiency of the plant.
  • Alongside Team responding to breakdowns, projects and pre-planned maintenance.


We're looking for a Machine Tool Service Engineer with:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship and HNC
  • Service and Maintenance experience at a high level, ideally supervisory
  • Experience of working on CNC machines, hydrostatic and hydraulic systems
  • The ability to read and understand machine tool mechanical and electrical drawings
