Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a highly regulated manufacturer based in Sheffield, who are looking for a technically able and highly experienced people manager to join the business as Engineering Manager. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a fast paced manufacturing business and really make an impact from a people management, process and NPI point of view. As the Engineering Manager you will be:

  • Manage and provide leadership to the Engineering Team for the introduction of new products, production support and process development activities.
  • Manage engineering resources in line with demand, identifying the resources, people, money, equipment, and specialist subcontractors required to meet the department objective.
  • Liaise with customers to understand their requirements, specifications, and deliverables.
  • Deliver NPI into production and to the customer on time and on cost by developing plans that consider risk.
  • Hold regular team meetings, assign tasks and dates and follow up regularly to ensure these are progressing to plan.
  • Own the stage gate review process and ensure procedural documentation is in place and up to date.
  • Work with the commercial team to support quoting and understand NPI pipeline.
  • Monitor scrap and deliver appropriate improvements.
  • Deliver engineering solutions to improve processes including reviewing new equipment, new technology and implementing changes to current processes to ensure the best manufacturing solution is provided.
  • Work with all other departments

To be considered for the Engineering manager role you will need:

  • Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or recognised engineering apprenticeship
  • Demonstrable experience in NPI Project Management
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a diverse team from varying disciplines
  • Very good working knowledge of manufacturing, ideally with cast or forge engineering experience
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated industry, ie medical, aerospace or automotive
  • Ability to motivate and coach a team using good leadership skills
  • Taking a consultative approach, listening to the opinions of others and asking the right questions for clarity.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly experience of Microsoft Project and Excel
  • Organised and methodical approach to each task, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
  • Willing to take on difficult manufacturing problems and rise to the challenge
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on available data using good problem solving skills
  • Ability to flex and adapt management style to operate at both a strategic and operational level as required.
