Quality Control Engineer Opportunity
Salary 40,000 - 41,000

Adept Resourcing has been retained by a leading manufacturing facility in Sheffield, renowned for producing premium orthopaedic products of the highest quality and precision.

Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Quality Control & Process Engineering Manager, this role is pivotal in providing quality inspection services to our manufacturing teams. Responsibilities include programming various automatic measuring machines, particularly Mitutoyo Co-ordinate Measuring Machines, both offline and online.

The successful candidate will be adept at using Mitutoyo MCOSMOS software and will play a key role in training, mentoring, and supporting the Inspection team. Additionally, they will manage the internal NC database to identify opportunities for improvement and oversee the scrap/rework and concession reporting systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Production Engineering to develop and implement effective measuring techniques.
  • Ensure final products meet regulatory standards before release.
  • Train and mentor JRI staff on new and existing measuring equipment.
  • Educate staff on identifying acceptable vs. non-acceptable products.
  • Manage the NC database, generate reports, and lead weekly NC meetings to review, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain inspection records for internal and external use.
  • Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated/validated prior to use.
  • Work with the purchasing department and customers to align measuring techniques and results before manufacture.
  • Assess and implement new developments in inspection technology.
  • Establish programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing facilities.
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis and Gage R&R studies, and report findings.
  • Perform and document validations, including IQ, OQ, and PQ.
  • Compile and deliver training materials and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
  • Oversee quality control engineering areas, including incoming product quality, process control, product measurement evaluation, and measurement equipment inventory control.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Mitutoyo MCOSMOS programming is essential.
  • In-depth understanding of measuring and inspection techniques.
  • Experience in developing and conducting gage studies.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of Lean/Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.
  • Detail-oriented with a methodical approach.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
  • Understanding of ISO13485 / ISO9001 standards.
  • Experience in coordinating and delivering training.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
