Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Site Manager (SM) to oversee water infrastructure projects for a leading civil engineering contractor. This is an amazing opportunity to work on high-profile projects in the water utilities sector, offering the chance to contribute to innovative and impactful infrastructure works. The Site Manager will report directly to the Project Managers or Contracts Managers and work closely with the Project QS (Quantity Surveyor), Works Managers, and Health & Safety (H&S) Advisors. The role requires ensuring that the project meets statutory requirements, maintains high safety and quality standards, and is delivered within budget and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations such as CDM (Construction Design and Management) and other HSE legislation.Implement and uphold safe systems of work, ensuring the site is run in a safe and secure manner. Ensure all relevant health and safety documents, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and permits, are in place and communicated to the workforce. Carry out daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions for new and existing workers, ensuring awareness of hazards and site rules. Ensure site and surrounding areas are maintained in a clean, tidy, and professional manner. -
Quality Assurance and Build Compliance:
Maintain records in the ITP (Inspection Test Plan) and ensure that all relevant quality checks are performed. Monitor construction processes to ensure the project meets specification, schedule, and quality standards. Oversee the delivery of a high-quality end product in line with contract requirements. -
Resource Management:
Plan, monitor, and manage site resources, including plant and labour. Ensure that labour is suitably qualified and competent to carry out the required tasks. Collaborate with the Works Manager to ensure that resources are deployed efficiently and effectively. -
Financial Oversight:
Collaborate with the Project QS to ensure the project stays within budget. Contribute to the creation of financial reports and ensure financial control on-site. Monitor and report on project progress, managing any variations or issues that may impact costs or timelines. -
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
Ensure professional and positive interaction with the client and client representatives. Liaise with the stakeholder manager to engage with local communities and residents. Represent the company in a manner that promotes a good image to clients, residents, and other stakeholders. -
Project Delivery:
Ensure the project is constructed in line with the agreed programme and specifications. Coordinate and communicate with the project team to manage any changes to the project scope or schedule. Resolve site issues in a timely and efficient manner to avoid project delays.
Training & Experience:

Experience:
Previous experience in managing or assisting with the management of construction sites, particularly in water infrastructure projects. Proven track record of managing safety, quality, and site operations. Familiarity with water utilities schemes is highly desirable. -
Qualifications:
CSCS Supervisors / Managers card (Gold, Platinum, or Black). SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification. Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator certification. Full First Aid at Work qualification. National Water Hygiene (Water Utilities schemes) qualification. -
Skills:
Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Additional Information:
Work Environment: Site-based, requiring full-time on-site presence.
Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent (or specify contract type).
