Elevation Recruitment Group are excited to be working with an innovative Hydrogen Technologies company who are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join their new facility in Sheffield.

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, who will work with the CTO and other engineers, developing and testing concepts for the microwave reactor and other key sub-systems.

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join an innovative company with market-leading technology. This technology produces Hydrogen on-site, for a fraction of the cost and energy consumption of existing processes.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer will include:

  • Leading integration of the reactor and other sub-systems into a modular production system
  • Leading the sizing/specifications of equipment for vendors.
  • Creating general assembly drawings for the reactor and balance of plant sub-systems (and integrating supplier drawings into files).
  • Performing mechanical stress calculations to ensure correct specifications
  • Liaising with vendors
  • Managing technicians to help with the mechanical fitting of components into a containerised system 
  • Ensuring designs and built systems/components are compliant with relevant legislation/standards.
  • Supporting other staff in running equipment 
  • Help with fault finding, datalogger analysis, evaluation of system performance

We are keen to speak with Mechanical Engineers with the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering 
  • Experience in engineering design environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment developing first-of-kind cutting edge technology
  • Experience in relevant software packages for drawing creation and management (e.g. Solidworks and Autocad 3D)
  • Previous experience working in a start-up
  • Experience generating CE/UKCA files
  • Previous experience working with Hydrogen or other flammable gases in an ATEX/Ex environment
  • Experience with conveyance systems to move solid particles in a high temperature ATEX/Ex environment
  • Experience with microwave driven chemical processes
