Elevation Recruitment are working with a global process engineering business to help them recruit a Lead Project Engineer for their site near Sheffield to drive high-impact projects from concept to completion

We’re looking for a seasoned Lead Project Engineer to take the helm on a variety of exciting, business-critical engineering projects ranging from £100K to £3M. If you're passionate about delivering complex projects safely, on time, and within budget—and thrive in a collaborative, high-performance environment—this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Take ownership of end-to-end engineering project delivery—from feasibility studies and cost estimation to execution, commissioning, and final handover.

  • Manage day-to-day project execution while supporting Senior Project Managers and a cross-disciplinary engineering team.

  • Lead the safe, timely, and budget-conscious delivery of multiple projects across operations in the UK and Ireland.

  • Oversee on-site activities including contractor management, permit-to-work systems, mechanical and electrical installations, and testing and commissioning.

  • Ensure all engineering work aligns with Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) standards and complies with statutory and internal policies.

  • Be a key player in creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture where innovation, safety, and excellence are at the forefront.

What You Bring to the Table:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering.

  • Significant industrial experience in a relevant engineering sector, with proven success in project execution.

  • Strong background in project engineering experience in both client and contractor environments is valued.

  • Proven ability to manage project scope, cost, risk, and timelines while maintaining the highest SHEQ standards.

  • Professional membership (IMechE, IChemE, APM, IET, or equivalent). Chartered status is highly desirable.

  • Ideally, you’ll also bring an APM PMQ qualification or NEBOSH/IOSH certification but if not, support can be provided.

  • You lead with integrity, and naturally foster a safe and inclusive environment.
