Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | £45,000 | Sheffield | Hybrid

The Opportunity

A growing manufacturing start-up have a brand-new requirement for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support delivery of key projects into the Construction sector, having tripled in size since their inception in 2023.

With a growing customer base within construction, including Balfour Beatty, Roger Bullivant, Mott McDonald; within sectors including Water, Energy, Nuclear, Residential, Hospitals, General construction, this company are now expanding internationally.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to grow and quickly develop in their career, with excellent progression opportunities including line management.

Location:

Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Salary: 

£45,000 plus

Role and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Principal Mechanical Engineer,

  • Involvement in the design and development of innovative products from concept to installation including component/system specification, definition, prototyping, manufacture, testing, and installation.
  • Producing drawings, specifications and technical reports which may include performance and failure.
  • Investigation for a wide variety of products.
  • Assessment of technical, time and material requirements for the preparation of customer quotations.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to gather input, review design concepts, and incorporate necessary adjustments or revisions.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials, building systems, and construction methods to ensure solutions are safe, durable, and achieve the desired design intent.
  • Developing own knowledge and ability. Continuous improvement activities to support business growth.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to continuously improve design practices and enhance construction efficiency.
  • Keeping senior management up to date on project status and progress.

The Candidate

  • Essential – Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or QBE
  • Essential – Autodesk Inventor experience (confident with this and able to support configuring this for their needs)
  • Essential – Strong communication skills (able to assimilate within the team) and demonstrable stakeholder/client management experience
  • Desirable – Construction related experience
