MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

MONDAY - FRIDAY: 08.30 - 17.00

People Solutions are looking for a Mechanical Technician for our client based in Sheffield.

Day to Day Duties

  • Installation and Assembly: Assist in the installation, assembly, and maintenance of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment following engineering specifications and blueprints
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of mechanical components to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime
  • Testing and Inspection: Perform tests on mechanical systems to evaluate functionality, identify faults, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Fabrication and Modification: Assist in fabricating or modifying mechanical parts and systems as required, using tools and machinery like lathes, grinders, and welding equipment
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to engineers, operators, and production teams to resolve mechanical issues or optimize equipment performance

Essential Skills

  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of mechanical systems, machinery, and tools, including how to install, maintain, and repair them
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions quickly
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Proficiency in working with mechanical components, equipment, and tools such as lathes, drills, and welding machines
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in following technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints, as well as ensuring accurate work in assembly, repair, and maintenance tasks
  • Hands-On Skills: Experience with fabrication, machining, and assembly of mechanical parts, and the ability to use power and hand tools safely

Desirable Experience

  • The job often requires physical strength, endurance, and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights, so previous experience of this would be desirable
