We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join the team within the adults social care portfolio of a local authority in Sheffield. This role requires a confident individual who can manage challenging stakeholders and has a solid background in working with trade unions. While experience in adults social care is not mandatory, candidates from the NHS, housing sector, care sector, or those with an understanding of government and trade union environments are encouraged to apply. Full training will be provided.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior management, providing guidance on HR matters and decisions.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Manage complex and difficult HR projects in collaboration with other departments.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with the trade union representatives, ensuring the organisation’s policies and practices are aligned with union agreements.
  • Provide support and guidance on the full range of HR activities including policies, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and employee development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner, HR Manager, or similar role.
  • Experience in a trade union environment is essential.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent people management skills and the ability to manage challenging stakeholders.
  • Analytical and goal-oriented.
  • Demonstrable experience with HR metrics.
  • Full understanding of all HR functions and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field.
