Planning Director

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a UK leading independent Planning Consultancy who, due to an exciting period of growth, are now looking to make the addition of a Planning Director to their Sheffield base.

The Sheffield office includes experts in sustainable development, strategic planning, research, and masterplanning, fostering collaborative work. The successful candidate will lead the Sheffield Office, enhancing its profile and expanding its diverse project portfolio, which includes residential, mixed-use sites, urban regeneration, education, and renewable energy projects. Staff work across multiple locations, contributing to a unified team approach.

This role involves leadership, managing major planning applications, appeals, Local Plan representations, and site promotion. You will also develop client relationships, attend networking events, and drive business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow the planning team.
  • Develop the client base and identify new opportunities.
  • Oversee staff development and workload management.
  • Maintain office profitability and contribute to budgeting.
  • Contribute to the company's overall strategy.

Candidate Requirements:

A qualified Town Planner with 10+ years of experience in private sector consultancy or a mix of private, public, and client-side roles. A postgraduate qualification in Planning and RTPI membership is required.
