As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students with autism access the curriculum and develop essential life skills. The Role:
As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have autism, offering them personalised support and guidance. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Individualised Support: Provide tailored assistance to help students engage with the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  2. Social and Emotional Development: Foster a nurturing and secure environment, supporting students in building their confidence, resilience, and social skills.
  3. Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and help students manage any challenges they face in the classroom.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s development.
  5. Sensory Support: Adapt learning environments and activities to meet the sensory needs of students with autism, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported.

Requirements:
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably working with students with autism or in a similar specialist role.
• A deep understanding of autism and strategies to support students effectively.
• Empathy, patience, and a passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
• Flexibility and a collaborative approach to working within a team.
