A private equity-backed manufacturing and engineering business is seeking an Interim Project Accountant to support project-based financial reporting and contract analysis across a group structure. This role is offered on an interim basis, with a competitive day rate of between 300 - 400 Per day.

The Role
As an Interim Project Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Cashflow Management - Monitoring and forecasting cashflow across projects, ensuring liquidity and optimal working capital management.
  • Contract Analysis - Reviewing project contracts to assess financial implications, cash position, risks, and opportunities.
  • Revenue Recognition - Ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition in line with IFRS/GAAP principles, particularly for long-term projects.
  • Margin Analysis - Conducting detailed margin analysis across projects, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Forensic Financial Analysis - Performing in-depth financial investigations into contracts, revenue streams, and project profitability.
  • Work in Progress (WIP) Management - Monitoring and reconciling WIP balances, ensuring correct cost and revenue allocation.
  • Reconciliations - Preparing and reviewing key balance sheet reconciliations for financial accuracy and integrity.
  • Group Reporting - Consolidating financial data across multiple companies, ensuring consistency and supporting intercompany transactions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Working with project managers, finance teams, and operational leads to provide financial insights.
  • Process Improvements - Identifying and implementing efficiencies in project accounting processes and financial controls.

Your Profile
You will ideally have:

  • A formal accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA, ACCA).
  • Strong experience in project accounting within a manufacturing, engineering, or contracting environment.
  • Proficiency in IFRS/GAAP for revenue recognition and financial reporting.
  • Experience in cashflow forecasting, contract analysis, and margin analysis.
  • A forensic approach to financial data, with a high level of analytical and investigative skills.
  • Experience working in a private equity-backed or multi-entity group structure is desirable.
  • Prior interim or contract experience is beneficial but not required.
