If you answered yes to any of the above, then keep reading!The Role and OpportunityAs an Assistant Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the procurement process within a leading surface blasting company. Working closely with the UK Purchasing Manager, you'll ensure that goods and services are acquired on time, at the best possible price, while upholding quality standards. Your responsibilities will span from strategic planning and supplier management to negotiating contracts and maintaining inventory levels. Further responsibilities include:
  • Creating purchase orders and requests for quotations (RFQs)
  • Coordinating and overseeing both full and partial shipments, including container cargo from Europe, India, and the USA to UK ports, along with arranging customs clearance and transportation
  • Managing the procurement and organisation of approved consumables and non-inventory items, such as PPE, stationery, and packaging, across all sites
  • Keeping accurate and current records for staff PPE, equipment calibration, and maintenance, ensuring adherence to all standards
The Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a solid understanding of procurement processes. Ideally, you’ll have professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS) and proven experience in a similar role. Additionally, you will have:
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of achieving cost savings.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions.
  • Knowledge of international procurement practices and import regulations.
