Our client, a major manufacturing business, seek to appoint a Buyer to their procurement team. A major part of the role will be communicating with suppliers, chasing overdue orders and raising purchase orders for non-stock items and services when required. As Buyer you will be responsible for procurement for non-stock material and service purchases, supporting the MRP system and ensuring supply chain activities run smoothly. Overall success will be measured by means of improved internal customer satisfaction and reduction of delivery date inaccuracies. Previous experience working in a purchasing / procurement environment is essential.

Buyer - Role and Responsibilities - Purchasing / Procurement / Supply Chain / Buying

* End-to-end order management of all non-stock product and service purchase orders
* Effectively leverage the non-stock supply base to ensure the optimum balance of total cost, lead time and inventory
* Support materials planners by communicating with suppliers and ensure the accuracy of purchase order details in the MRP system
* Maintain price, product, purchase order accuracy in the MRP system
* Support materials planners and category managers with resolving invoice queries and delivery discrepancies
* Support supplier performance reviews as required
* Use continuous improvement tools to identify and implement improved ways of working
* Communicate effectively with procurement and production planning to ensure all stakeholders are informed as to purchasing activity

Buyer - Skills and Abilities - Purchasing / Procurement / Supply Chain / Buying

* Preferably some buying experience in a manufacturing environment
* Computer literacy, including MS Office and MRP systems
* Analytical thinking and strong numeracy skills
* Able to work to strict deadlines under pressure
