Role Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing project finances and ensuring that our developments remain within budget without compromising quality. Working closely with our commercial, construction, and design teams, you will oversee cost planning, budget management, and procurement, contributing to the financial success of each project and helping us deliver homes that exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation and Budget Control: Prepare and manage detailed cost plans and budgets, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion.
  • Procurement and Contract Management: Lead the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers, managing tenders, evaluating bids, and negotiating favorable terms.
  • Financial Reporting and Forecasting: Prepare accurate financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis to keep projects on track and within budget.
  • Valuation and Payment: Assess and authorise valuations and payments for subcontractors, ensuring work is completed to agreed-upon standards before release of funds.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential financial and contractual risks, proposing solutions to mitigate issues and protect company interests.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Maintain strong communication with stakeholders, providing updates on project costs, budgets, and timelines.
  • Cost Analysis for Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-project cost analysis to identify areas for improvement and ensure lessons learned are integrated into future projects.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience: Experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the residential sector.
  • Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of construction cost management, tendering, and contracts.
  • IT Proficiency: Skilled in MS Office, particularly Excel, with experience in cost management software (e.g., COINS, CostX, etc.) being a plus.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence is required for site visits.
