If so, GSL Education are in search of a passionate and skilled English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Sheffield. This role requires strong subject expertise, excellent classroom management skills, and a commitment to inspiring students through engaging and thought-provoking English lessons.

About the Role: As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills. You will play a key role in fostering a love for literature and language while ensuring students achieve their full potential.

English Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver inspiring and creative English lessons.
  • Teach a range of topics, including literature, creative writing, and language analysis.
  • Prepare students for GCSE exams, coursework, and assessments.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and academic performance.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to engage and challenge learners.
  • Encourage students to develop a passion for English and improve their literacy skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the English curriculum.
  • Take part in school activities, including literary events, reading clubs, and extra-curricular programs.

English Teacher Requirements:

  • Must hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or have UK teaching experience.
  • A degree in English, Literature, or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Passion for encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and a love for English.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
