Are you a qualified and enthusiastic Science Teacher ready to inspire the next generation of scientists? Do you have the confidence and subject knowledge to teach engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics?

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a Science Teacher to join a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Sheffield. This full-time role will commence in September 2025 and offers the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.

About the role:

As a Teacher of Science, you will play a vital role in encouraging students to develop an inquiring mindset and a strong foundation in scientific knowledge. You will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to students at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, ensuring that content is accessible, inspiring, and aligned with the national curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach across all three science disciplines—Biology, Chemistry, and Physics—at KS3, KS4 and KS5.
  • Prepare students for their GCSE Science exams with targeted revision strategies.
  • Track student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom discipline.
  • Foster a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with additional learning needs, where required.
  • Participate in departmental planning, meetings, and CPD opportunities.
  • Use practical work and experiments to bring learning to life.
  • Encourage scientific curiosity and independent learning.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A relevant Science degree (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or related subject).
  • Prior experience teaching Science in a UK secondary school, ideally at KS3, KS4 and KS5.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • A passion for education and student success.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities.
  • Enhanced DBS registered to the update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
