We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated UK Service Manager to oversee and manage a team of service engineers. The successful candidate will have full responsibility for the allocation of resources within the office and provide support and coordination for the engineers as detailed in the job description.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily management of all Service Engineers, including minimising non-productive time
  • Effectively manage the weekly timesheet process
  • Oversee the out of hours call rota and ensure it is communicated to all parties
  • Manage the onboarding process for new engineers in conjunction with HR, including interviews, negotiations, training, and sourcing of relevant equipment/PPE
  • Resolve aftersales warranty issues
  • Manage supplier relationships
  • Maximise Preventative Maintenance (PM) Contract Yield
  • Ensure prompt weekly invoicing for completed breakdown jobs
  • Address customer queries that cannot be delegated
  • Resolve invoice/job queries with accounts, which may include site visits
  • Liaise with other departments to maximise output
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors as necessary
  • Ensure output is maximised in line with company budgetary targets


Health & Safety/Quality/Training:

  • Support the Business Unit Director with engineer appraisals and identify training requirements
  • Assist the HSEQ Manager with van audits and maintain van stock levels
  • Ensure engineers achieve Health and Safety objectives to IOSH standard while on site
  • Compile and communicate Risk Assessment & Method Statement (RAMS) documentation to engineers/customers
  • Ensure all Quality Procedures are followed by staff and engineers


Key Skills and Experience:

  • Substantial experience in an industrial field service management role
  • Knowledge of Overhead Traveling Cranes is advantageous
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle disputes professionally
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of handling customer service-related queries
  • Confident in using initiative and making sound commercial decisions
  • Flexible and able to prioritise effectively
  • Capable of generating innovative ideas to improve current systems of work and presenting them to higher management
