Metalis Engineering Recruitment is currently supporting a well-established metals company in their search for a Maintenance Support Assistant.

Role Overview:
As a Maintenance Support Assistant, you will work as part of a small, close-knit team of 4/5 engineers, assisting with a variety of maintenance duties. Your responsibilities will include basic mechanical work, fabrication, welding, and general site upkeep to ensure smooth production operations.
You will support the Maintenance Manager with day-to-day tasks, ensuring all equipment and facilities are well maintained and running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out basic reactive and preventative tasks across the site.
- Assist with basic mechanical work, fabrication, and welding when required.
- Support the skilled team in commissioning and maintaining mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Clean and maintain filtration systems and other essential equipment.
- General DIY tasks, such as painting, fixing minor issues, and keeping the site well-maintained.
- Support the team in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Ensure tools and equipment are kept in good working condition.
- Carry out inspections and basic repairs to prevent downtime in production.
Person Specification:
We are looking for someone who is practical, hardworking, and eager to develop their skills. The ideal candidate will have:
- A hands-on approach with an interest in maintenance and fixing things.
- Previous experience in a mechanical, maintenance, or fabrication role would be beneficial but is not essential.
- A willingness to learn and develop in a maintenance environment.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical work, DIY, fabrication, or welding is advantageous.
