GSL Education’s South Yorkshire Branch is seeking enthusiastic people to join our client school as a Residential Support Worker. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience and support students in their progress.

Job Summary: As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and support to young residents, helping them to achieve their full potential and navigate the challenges they face. You will work as part of a dedicated team to create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where each young person feels valued and supported.

Residential Support Worker Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional and practical support to young people in our care, helping them with daily living tasks, educational activities, and personal development.
  • Support and guide young people in managing their behavior and emotions, using positive reinforcement techniques and promoting self-esteem.
  • Implement and review individual care plans in collaboration with other professionals, ensuring that each young person's needs are met, and their goals are achieved.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with young people, their families, and other professionals involved in their care. Keep accurate records and provide regular updates on progress.
  • Ensure a safe and secure living environment by adhering to health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and responding appropriately to any incidents or emergencies.
  • Organize and participate in recreational and educational activities that promote social skills, personal growth, and community involvement.

The Essential Requirements for Successful Residential Support Worker:

  • Previous experience in a residential care or support role is advantageous, but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and a commitment to making a positive impact on their lives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
  • A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3) is desirable but not essential.
