We are currently looking for a part-time Housing Solutions Officer to join our Private Rented Solutions Team at Sheffield City Council. This role is integral to assisting individuals in securing quality private sector housing, establishing long-term tenancies, and preventing homelessness. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing support and guidance to clients throughout the housing process, ensuring a smooth transition into their new homes.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide support for clients bidding on vacant properties.
  • Assist with setting up bills and contracts for participants who secure a new home.
  • Work towards preventing homelessness and hospital admissions by offering a range of support options.
  • Collect and interpret information from various sources to aid in application processes.
  • Guide clients through the Council’s Lettings Policy and assist with the bidding process.
  • Liaise with statutory and voluntary sector organisations to coordinate services for clients.
  • Respond to telephone, mail, and electronic enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Understanding of, or experience working with, people facing homelessness.
  • Ability to pass a DBS check.
