Engagement Officer

Location: Sheffield, S2

£100 - £110

Days: Monday - Friday, Term Time Only

Key Responsibilities

  • To identify and implement intervention strategies to address and continually improve attendance and punctuality for targeted individuals
  • Supporting students into school at the start of the school day
  • Working with pupils within the school environment to explore barriers and find solutions to accessing their education
  • Work with students struggling to engage with education within the classroom on a 1:1 basis
  • Identify and implement intervention strategies to address low attendance and celebrate good attendance. Provide a range of interventions available with the discretion to adapt or amend them as appropriate.
  • Support families in accessing external services and advocating for their child's education
  • Attend meetings with the attendance and inclusion team
  • Support families within professionals' meetings
  • Support pupils in accessing alternative provision

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in a similar role within an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of attendance and welfare issues affecting young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and produce reports
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance relating to attendance and welfare
  • A caring and empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for supporting the well-being of young people
  • Relevant qualifications in education, social work, or a related field (desirable)
