SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant

Do you have experience working with children who face behavioural challenges due to Social Emotional Mental Health conditions? Do you have a calm and positive approach to managing difficult situations?

Veritas Education is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to work with children who have behavioural difficulties in a special school setting in Sheffield

The Role

  • Supporting students with behavioural challenges, helping them to stay engaged and focused in lessons.
  • Assist students with severe mental health conditions from past trauma.
  • Working closely with the teacher to implement behaviour management strategies and interventions.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of individualised behaviour support plans.
  • Providing emotional and social support to students, helping them to manage their emotions and build positive relationships with others.
  • Working as part of a team to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviour or additional needs is essential.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies (e.g. Team Teach) is a plus.
  • Ability to stay calm and composed in challenging situations, using positive reinforcement.
  • Experience supporting children or young adults in a educational environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
