SEND Teaching Assistant

Sheffield, S5

Full Time (Monday-Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm)

January 6th 2025 start

At Career Teachers we are currently working with a primary school in the S5 area of Sheffield who require a Teaching Assistant to work 1-1 with a suspected SEND pupil in Reception (FS2.) They are looking for a resilient Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills to join their successful team from January 2025.

Your Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and young people with additional learning needs such as non-verbal Autism on a 1-1 basis.
  • A recognised teaching assistant qualification such as Level 2, Level 3 or a degree in education or transferable skills.
  • Team Teach Training preferred, but not essential.
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviours, defusing situations, and making a calm and positive environment for students to progress in.
  • A calm, patient manner with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Experience assisting non-verbal students using visual aids such as PECs and Makaton would be advantageous.

Your Role:

  • You will be working with the class teacher and other members of support staff to ensure that the pupil receives the care required to cater for their unique needs.
  • You must be able to build trusting and meaningful relationships and ensure that they are engaged in learning and activities.
  • This is a full-time role starting this September, we are looking for a committed and passionate teaching assistant who is looking to join a successful team of practitioners and really make a difference!
