SEN Teacher - Autism Class

Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher with a strong understanding of autism and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children? Veritas Education are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join on of our inclusive partner schools in Sheffield and work within their Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) class.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored, engaging lessons for students with autism, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
  • Create and maintain a structured, positive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, classroom support staff, and parents to track progress and plan for each student's individual needs.
  • Promote emotional and social development through structured interventions and positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Support students in developing key life skills, including communication, independence, and social interaction.
  • Implement and monitor behaviour support plans, adjusting approaches as needed to ensure each student's success.
  • Provide professional insight and contribute to reviews and assessments for EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with students with autism, either in a classroom setting or as part of a specialized intervention team.
  • A strong understanding of autism and strategies to support students with a range of abilities.
  • Patience, creativity, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with students and colleagues.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to teaching and problem-solving.
  • A commitment to making a positive impact on the educational and emotional development of students with autism.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is desirable.
