Sports Coach

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire

GSL Education is looking for a Sports Coach across client schools located in Sheffield. We are searching for one who is self-motivated and enthusiastic, moreover, willing to inspire the future generation of young people.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized training plans that cater to the specific needs and goals of each athlete or team.
  • Adjust training regimens based on performance data, progress, and feedback.
  • Lead and supervise practice sessions, ensuring that drills, exercises, and techniques are executed correctly and safely.
  • Identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, and adjust training accordingly.
  • Develop game plans and strategies to maximize team performance during competitions.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent injuries and ensure a safe training environment.
  • Monitor athletes’ physical and mental health, referring them to specialists when necessary.
  • Continuously update your knowledge of the latest coaching techniques, sports science, and industry trends.

The successful Sports Coach will:

  • A degree in sports science, physical education, sports management, or a related field is often preferred.
  • A background as a player in the sport being coached can be highly advantageous, providing firsthand knowledge of the game.
  • Proven experience coaching athletes or teams, ideally at the level of the position you're applying for (e.g., high school, collegiate, professional).
  • In-depth understanding of the sport’s rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Knowledge of effective training methods, conditioning, and injury prevention.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
