Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children? GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 LAC (Looked After Child) Tutor to join our team in Sheffield. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a young learner in care, providing the personalized support they need to thrive academically and personally.

Job Summary:

As a 1:1 LAC (Looked After Child) Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting a child who has faced significant challenges. You will work in a one-to-one setting, tailoring your teaching methods to meet the unique needs of looked after children, helping them build confidence and achieve their educational goals.

As a 1:1 LAC (Looked After Child) Tutor, Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 tutoring lessons in various subjects for Looked After Children, ensuring their unique educational needs are met.
  • Create and deliver engaging, personalized lesson plans that align with each child’s individual education plan.
  • Monitor and report the child’s progress, adapting teaching strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of the child's progress and any concerns.
  • Communicate regularly with the child's carers, social workers, and school staff to ensure consistent support.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment to encourage the child's academic and personal growth.

As a 1:1 LAC (Looked After Child) Tutor, Your Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant tutoring/teaching experience.
  • Proven experience working with Looked After Children or vulnerable young people.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by Looked After Children and the ability to address these effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and effective tutoring strategies.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to support and inspire children in care.
